PDP CRISIS: Ologbondiyan urges shift in focus from Atiku, Wike to party’s viability
Kola Ologbondiyan, former national publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has expressed disappointment over the ongoing focus on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike amidst the party’s crisis.
In an interview with ARISE TV on Friday, Ologbondiyan emphasized that the PDP was larger than the two individuals, stressing that the constant emphasis on them is disheartening.
“I have consistently said that the Peoples Democratic Party is bigger than two leaders or individuals, Atiku Abubakar and Nyesom Wike,” Ologbondiyan stated. “It is disturbing and even depressing that every time people talk about PDP, they come from the angle that Wike is the division, Atiku is the division.”

Ologbondiyan believes the focus should be on strengthening the PDP as a viable opposition and restoring peace within the party. “The challenge in the country today is bigger than talking about individuals and opposition that is confronting challenges,” he noted.
“No matter how you look at it, PDP remains the biggest political opposition, and it is only PDP that can bring other opposition parties together to form a formidable group.”
He highlighted that beyond Wike and Atiku, there are dedicated members within the party capable of restoring peace and stability. “People have left the party in the past, and the party has remained,” Ologbondiyan said. “As a result, I don’t think PDP should be allowed to die on account of issues between Atiku and Wike.”
