Police on Thursday arraigned two men at the Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan for alleged theft of the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde’s vehicle.

The yet-to-be-registered Toyota Hummer bus was valued at N28.5 million at the time it was stolen.

The defendants, Adepoju Joel (37), and Sangolade Olakunle (41), were arraigned for alleged conspiracy and stealing.

They however pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Olabisi Ogunkanmi, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N5 million each with two sureties each.

Ogunkanmi said one of the sureties must be a blood relation to each of the defendants.

She, thereafter, adjourned the matter till October 23 for hearing.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Cpl. Akeem Akinloye, told the court that the duo allegedly conspired to commit the offence.

Akinloye alleged that the defendants stole the bus at the Ikolaba Government Reservation Area in Ibadan on February 20.

He said the offence contravened section 390 (10A) of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.
