Police arrest two suspects with firearm in Edo

Police operatives in Edo State have arresed two suspects, Collins Evbayiro, and O. Nagbagbonmuna, for alleged possession of a firearm.

In a statement issued on Thursday, police said the suspects were arrested by officers of the Ugbekun Division during a stop-and-search operation along the Upper Sakponba Road.

The statement read: “Officers of Ugbekun Division, while on stop-and-search along Upper Sakponba, arrested Collins Evbayiro, 34, and O. Nagbagbonmuna, 35, in possession of a locally made cut-to-size double-barrel gun with two live cartridges, in a Toyota Yaris car, registration number BEN 777 XE.”

The suspects, according to the police,vwere found with a locally made cut-to-size double-barrel gun and two live cartridges in their Toyota Yaris vehicle.

“The arrest is a significant milestone in the police’s efforts to curb crime and ensure public safety in Edo State.

“The police command has reiterated its commitment to protecting the citizens and urged the public to cooperate with the authorities in reporting any suspicious activities,” the statement added.
