Police arrests nine over Anambra lawmaker’s murder
Police operatives in Anambra on Thursday arrested nine suspects over their alleged involvement in the murder of a member of the State House of Assembly, Justice Azuka.
The state’s Commissioner of Police, Nnaghe Itam, disclosed this at a media briefing on Friday in Awka.
A combined team of police operatives and men of the Anambra State vigilante group found the decomposing remains of the lawmaker representing Onitsha North Constituency 1 in the Assembly on the Second Niger Bridge on Thursday.
Azuka was abducted in Onitsha on December 24 last year.

The CP listed the suspects as Ugochukwu Onuorah (30), Ikemefuna Ossai (20), Ikenna Orugu (27), Chibuike Obiefuna (19), Chinonso Olisa (19), Chinedu Okoli (21), David Ojini (25) and Peter Sunday (20).
Sunday is the most notorious of the suspects with a big tattoo inscription “No peace 4 d Government on his chest.”
“Two pump action guns were recovered from the suspects. One of the suspects sustained a gunshot injury in his leg during a gun duel with the police operatives,” Itam stated.
