Police in Bauchi dismiss 1 constable, demote 4 others for corruption in 2024

Bauchi State Police Command has dismissed one Police Constable while four others had deductions in ranks as disciplinary measures in the year 2024.

The disclosure was made by the Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa Mohammed while briefing journalists on the activities of the Command in the year 2024 at the Command headquarters late Monday evening.

The CP disclosed that, “A total of Eighteen personnel have undergone internal disciplinary measures, demonstrating our dedication to maintaining high operational standards. This includes the dismissal of one Police Constable, rank reductions for four officers, issuance of warning letters to Six personnel, and reprimands for four others.”

Auwal Musa Mohammed added that, “Moreover, our Complaint Response Unit (CRU), functioning within the Police Public Relations Department, has played a critical role in addressing public complaints against the misconduct of our officers and men.”

“During this timeframe, we received Ten complaints, all of which were meticulously investigated. Our efforts culminated in the recovery of ₦784,000 from the implicated officers, which has been duly returned to the affected victims,” he revealed.

He added that during the period under review, the Command recoded a total of 1182 cases resulting in the arrest of 2322 suspects during various operations in the year 2024 .

Auwal Musa Mohammed said that it was in accordance with the policy trust of the 22nd Indigenous Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode

Egbetokun, aimed at combating crime and enhancing the safety of all citizens for economic development.
