Police in Kano rescue 10 victims of human trafficking bound for Libya
The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Kano Zonal Command, has received 10 rescued victims of human trafficking.
The victims, aged between 22 and 42, were rescued on December 7 by a team of policemen led by CSP Bala Shuaibu.
According to Mr. Abdullahi Babale, the Zonal Commander of NAPTIP in Kano during a press briefing, the victims were on their way to Libya for labor exploitation. “They were rescued in a house located at Rijiyar Lemu Quarters in Kano,” Babale explained.
The rescued victims comprise six females and four males from Delta, Edo, Osun, Ogun, and Lagos states.
Babale commended the Commissioner of Police in Kano State, Mr. Salman Dogo-Garba, for his support and cooperation in rescuing the victims. The police boss assured that the victims would receive counseling and rehabilitation before being reunited with their families.

“The victims would be counselled and rehabilitated before reuniting them with their respective families,” Dogo-Garba said.
Dogo-Garba also urged parents to protect their children from being exploited and lured into slavery in the name of seeking greener pastures. He emphasized the importance of public vigilance in reporting suspicious cases of human trafficking.
“We urge the public to report suspicious cases of human trafficking in their respective communities for prompt action,” he said.
The rescue of the 10 human trafficking victims is a significant milestone in the fight against human trafficking in Nigeria. NAPTIP’s efforts, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, demonstrate a commitment to protecting vulnerable individuals and combating human trafficking.
