Police operatives in Ogun have arrested some of their colleagues demanding money from the family of a missing girl in the state.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, disclosed this in a post on his X handle on Saturday.

He was however silent on the identities of the affected police officers.

Adejobi wrote: “Otta missing girl: The policemen who demanded money before they could attend to the case have been arrested and are now in detention for disciplinary action.

“We condemn such an act and will not tolerate it. It is inhuman, apathetic, and unprofessional.

“The Ogun State Police Command has been on the case. The girl will be found as soon as possible. We also urge the family of the victim to cooperate with the police.”

The victim, a seven-year-old girl daughter of a Point-of-Sale (PoS) operator, was kidnapped by one of her mother’s customers in the Otta area of the state earlier in the week.

The police operatives allegedly demanded N40,000 from the victim’s mother when she reported the case at the police station.
