Port Harcourt Refinery operating fully, loading ongoing, NNPC maintains

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has assured that the 60,000 barrels per day, bpd, old Port Harcourt Refinery remains fully operational.

Recall that the Port Harcourt Refinery resumed operations in November 2024 after some years of rehabilitation, hence boosting domestic supply.

However, some media reports have it that the operations of the refinery have stopped, leaving tanker drivers stranded.

The Chief Corporate Communications Officer, NNPCL, Olufemi Soneye, had denied the information, notjng that loading is ongoing.

In his statement, Soneye stated: “The attention of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company, NNPC, Limited has been drawn to reports in a section of the media alleging that the Old Port Harcourt Refinery, which was re-streamed two months ago has been shut down.

“We wish to clarify that such reports are totally false as the refinery is fully operational as verified a few days ago by former Group Managing Directors of NNPC.

“Preparation for the day’s loading operation is currently ongoing.”
