Paris St-Germain have successfully advanced to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League after beating Liverpool on penalties.

Trailing 1-0 from the first leg in Paris, Ousmane Dembele scored an early goal to draw level for PSG, who then held on at Anfield to send the game to extra time.

After 120 minutes of play, the aggregate score remained 1-1 draw, and both sides were to settle the tie in a shootout.

The French side were lucky as they won 4-1, after Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones both miss in shootout.

Gianluigi Donnarumma saved two Liverpool penalties before Desire Doue hammered home the winning spot-kick in front of joyous fans.

Liverpool will need to recover swiftly, with the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United at Wembley on Sunday.

The Reds had crashed out of the FA Cup, and now the Champions League, leaving them with only two possible trophies this season, as they lead the pack in the Premier League.
