Marc Agnifilo, the lawyer representing American hip-hop star, Sean Puffy Combs aka Puff Daddy, said on Monday his client was a victim of a “racially motivated prosecution.”

Agnifilo in a chat with the media said his client was being targeted because of his status as a “successful black man.”

He added that Puff Daddy who has been indicted on charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution, plans to “fight this case not just for himself, but for others in a similar position.”

Puff Daddy, according to the lawyer, was determined to provide his side of the story about the assault on his 38-year-old ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, whom he was seen assaulting in a 2016 hotel security tape.

The lawyer said: “(Combs) has his story and he has a story that I think only he can tell in the way he can tell it in real-time.

“And it’s a human story. It’s a story of love. It’s a story of hurt. It’s a story of heartbreak.”

“His state of mind is actually remarkably positive.

“I spend several hours with him every day. His resolve is strong. He’s engaged.

“He’s focused on his defense… (he has) come to terms with the fact that this is where he is for now.”
