Rapper Busta Rhymes turns himself in after being charged with assaulting his assistant during work
American rapper Busta Rhymes has turned himself in and is now facing multiple charges after he allegedly assaulted his assistant Dashiel Gables for being on the phone for too long during work on Friday, January 10.
Reports say Busta Rhymes got into a heated argument with his assistant punching him in the face several times and leaving him with a swollen left eye for spending too much time on the phone in an incident which took place inside a luxe condominium complex in Brooklyn.
A New York Police Department spokesperson told USA TODAY on Thursday that Busta Rhymes, 52, born Trevor Smith Jr., had turned himself in at Brooklyn’s 84th precinct Tuesday night.

When contacted by The Post for comment, Gables said he was advised by his lawyer not to speak to the press, then added: “Maybe later. Maybe in the future. I can’t mess up my case, bro. It’s just not going to be worth it. An article in the paper as opposed to a six or seven-million-dollar settlement? I’m not risking it, sorry.”
The incident comes after the rapper was captured in a video throwing a drink at a woman who touched him inappropriately at an event in Las Vegas in February 2023.
The woman, identified as Nikita Mathis, confirmed to The Shade Room that she was the person who touched Busta.
‘I didn’t mean to touch his behind, honestly. I was just happy to meet him and wanted a picture,’ the fashion boutique owner admitted.
