Rapper Jay Z seeks legal sanctions against lawyer for allegedly filing false r@pe claim against him
American music mogul Sean Carter, popularly known in music circles as Jay Z, is seeking legal action against Houston-based attorney Tony Buzbee for allegedly filing a false r@pe claim against him.
Jay-Z alleges that Buzbee did not perform even the most basic due diligence before pursuing the lawsuit in a motion submitted by his attorney, Alex Spiro.
Buzbee’s lawsuit alleges that Jay-Z and embattled music producer Puff Daddy drugged and r@ped a 13-year-old woman following the 2000 MTV VMA Awards.
Buzbee is criticized in Spiro’s brief for continuing to pursue the lawsuit after an NBC News interview with the accuser raised questions about a number of crucial aspects of her claims.
This development comes days after Judge Analisa Torres of the New York Court granted a motion filed by Jay Z, requesting to dismiss the rape case against him.
On Thursday, January 2, Judge Torres allowed the 55-year-old rapper’s legal team’s request to file a move for dismissal in the case filed against their client by an Alabama woman who alleged that Jay Z s3xually assaulted her 24 years ago.
”Carter’s request to file a motion to dismiss Plaintiff’s amended complaint is GRANTED,’ Torres wrote in court documents posted by law journalist Meghann Cuniff on X/Twitter a week ago.
