The Rivers State House of Assembly has called on the Department of State Services (DSS) to investigate the state’s Chief Judge, Justice Simeon Amadi, over allegations of age falsification.

The decision was reached during Thursday’s plenary after Hon. Major Jack, the Leader of the House, presented documents purportedly suggesting inconsistencies in the Chief Judge’s official records.

Raising the issue on the floor of the House, Deputy Speaker Hon. Dumle Maol expressed grave concern over the allegations.

“These documents before me clearly suggest that the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Simeon Amadi, falsified his age in service,” Maol stated. “Mr Speaker, this is a very serious allegation, and I do hope that this House takes legislative notice.”

The matter quickly gained traction as lawmakers debated the credibility and gravity of the claims. After deliberations, the Assembly resolved to formally write to the DSS, urging the security agency to launch a thorough investigation and report its findings back to the House.

Speaker Martin Amaewhule echoed the need for due diligence in addressing the claims, emphasizing the importance of upholding the integrity of the state’s judicial system.

“The documents suggest a possible case of age falsification by the Honourable Chief Judge, Justice Simeon Amadi,” Amaewhule said. “An investigation is necessary to establish the truth.”

Following a voice vote, the House unanimously agreed to call on the DSS to probe the allegations.
