Ronaldo, Portugal out after shootout loss to France in Euro Quarters

Cristiano Ronaldo is out of the European Championship as Portugal were beaten on penalties by France in their quarter-final clash on Friday night.

After a goalless 120 minutes, both sides had to settle their differences in a shootout, with France coming out tops.

Ronaldo converted his own kick but Joao Felix missed the third kick for his team as the countenance of Portuguese fans dropped.

Theo Hernandez scored the winning penalty as France went on to win 5-3 in the shootout.

Before the match, all eyes had been on a showdown between Mbappe and Cristiano Ronaldo but both failed to have an impact.

France will now face Spain in the semi-finals in Munich next Tuesday.
