Security operatives destroy criminals’ camp, recover 19 IEDs in Anambra
Police operatives in Anambra on Tuesday destroyed a suspected camp of criminals in Nimo, Njikoka local government area of the state.
The spokesman for the state police command, Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in Awka.
He said the operation was carried out in the early hours of the day in collaboration with the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and members of a vigilance group in the state.
He added that several makeshift structures within the camp were destroyed and 19 unexploded improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were recovered in the operation.

Ikenga said the security operatives also inflicted significant injuries on fleeing suspects.
“The state Commissioner of Police, Nnaghe Itam, urged proprietors of private and public hospitals to report anyone with bullet wounds to the nearest police station.
“This measure is critical to the ongoing effort to apprehend fleeing suspects and prevent further criminal activity,” the spokesman said.
