Senate confirms AMCON chairman, executive directors
The Senate on Wednesday confirmed the nomination of Dr. Bala Bello as part-time Chairman of the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON).
The Red Chamber also confirmed five other nominees for appointment as Non-Executive Directors for the agency.
The confirmation followed the presentation and adoption of report of Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions at Wednesday’s plenary in Abuja.
The Non-Executive Directors are – Yusuf Sule (North- Central, Mr. Adeyemo Stephen (South-West), Mr. Yahaya Ibrahim (North-West), Mr. Odion Iyare (South-South), and Mrs. Emily Osuji (South-East).
The Senator from Imo State, Osita Izunaso, who presented the report of the committee chairman, said the recommendation followed a robust engagement with the nominees.
He added that the committee was satisfied with the nominees’ experiences and academic qualifications.
The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, after the confirmation thanked the committee members for the screening of the nominees.
He expressed hope that the new managers of AMCON would discharge their duties effectively.
