Seplat, Honeywell Flour among top losers as investors shed N188bn

Investors in the Nigerian equities market lost N188 billion at the end of trading on Thursday.

This followed the crash in the share values of IKEJA HOTEL, HONEYWELL FLOUR, and SEPLAT amongst others on the trading floor today.

After five hours of trading at the capital market, the equity capitalization decreased to N56.2 trillion from N56.4 trillion posted by the bourse on Wednesday.

The All-Share Index (ASI) decreased to 99,468.90 from 99,802.08 recorded the previous day.

The market breadth was positive as 20 stocks advanced and 18 declined, while 72 others remained unchanged in 7,126 deals.

LINKAGE ASSURANCE, DAAR COMMUNICATION, and VITAFOAM led other gainers with 9.80%, 9.66%, and 7.61% growth in share price each to close at N1.02, N0.52, and N19.70 from the previous N1.12, N0.57, and N21.20 per share.

On the flip side, IKEJA HOTEL, HONEYWELL FLOUR and SEPLAT led other price decliners as they shed 9.29%, 8.41%, and 8.30% each to close at N6.35, N3.16, and N3,480.00 from the initial N7.00, N3.45, and N3.794 per share.

On the volume index, FIDELITY BANK led trading with 46 million shares valued at N482 million in 389 deals followed by LINKAGE ASSURANCE which traded 32 million shares valued at N35 million in 127 deals.

ACCESS CORP traded 23 million shares valued at N445 million in 719 deals.

On the value index, SEPLAT recorded the highest value for the day trading stocks worth N1.14 billion in 45 deals followed by AIRTEL AFRICA which traded equities worth N569 million in 24 deals.

FIDELITY BANK traded stocks worth N482 million in 389 deals.
