S’Korea beat Nigeria’s Under-23

Nigeria’s Under 23 football team, on Thursday fell by a lone goal to hosts of the 2016 Suwon Invitational Tournament,
South Korea, in the opening game of the competition.

The lone goal was scored by Choi Kyubaek towards the end of the match.

Taiwo Awoniyi had Nigeria’s first opportunity in the 20th minute but his shot went inches wide.

Meanwhile, latest reports emanating from the team’s camp reveal that Coach Samson Siasia has concluded plans to include Chelsea forward Victor Moses and Norway-based defender William Troost-Ekong in the provisional list for the Rio Olympics

Moses who is 25 is being considered as one of three overage players allowed for the competition while Central defender Troost-Ekong is only 22 and he falls within the allowed age of 23.

Troost-Ekong, who has featured for the Netherlands age-group teams, is being considered as a replacement for Segun Oduduwa who got injured during training and has been ruled out of Rio 2016.

Chelsea midfielder Mikel Obi, Watford striker Odion Ighalo, CSKA Moscow star Ahmed Musa and South Africa-based Daniel Akpeyi are some of the overage players already listed for the competition.
