SocialMediaTrends: Nigerians call out Bashir Ahmad for eulogizing slain Hamas leader
Former aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, has come in for severe criticism after he showered praises on leader of the Hamas militant group, Yahya Sinwar, who was killed by the Israeli forces on Wednesday.
Sinwar was designated a terrorist by the European Union in January 2024, and declared wanted for masterminding the October 7 attacks on Israel that left over 1,000 people dead.
The Hamas warlord had assumed leadership of the Palestinian militant group only last August following the assassination of former leader Ismail Haniyeh, who was killed in a firefight between Israeli soldiers and Hamas forces.
But that did not deter Ahmad who posted a photograph of the assassinated terrorist on his X handle with the caption:
‘He was born, lived and died as a leader!”

The post put up by Ahmad did not receive the backing of many Nigerians who called him out for being a terrorist sympathizer.
Read some of the comments below:
“@BashirAhmaad while the war and killings in Israel and Palestine is disturbing, your interest in X post is misplaced because there are more gruesome killings in your communities in Northern Nigeria which you guys keep under a wall of silence like the quietness of a grave at midnight.
“Are the lives of your fellow Nigerians cum fellow northern Muslims less valuable than the slain Palestinian hero that you are speaking out for?
This is not an endorsement for the killing, but a reminder of your misplaced priority.” – @DavidEboh5
“Told you terrorists were in charge of the government during Buhari regime, that’s why there were so many killings. Many of them are still in this government. One day, what’s happening in the Middle East will happen here and they will all die like dogs. They can’t escape what’s coming, it’s a date with destiny.” – @Famoyegun_S

“To imagine that someone who served in the Presidency from 2015 to 2023 is celebrating a terrorist! There are lots of things difficult to understand about Nigeria… Bashir, save money and go and join Hamas.” – @HiikyaaTor
“Bashir is that person that dresses up suicide bomber but never want to be dressed up. He tells u d importance of going to heaven and the things u will enjoy when u get there but he doesn’t want to go with u or b4 u.” – @Adaobi_ij
“@BashirAhmaad is a terrorist sympathizer but calls a freedom fighter like MNK a terrorist . Most of PMB boys and allies love terrorism and banditry and this is why they did nothing about insecurity in Nigeria especially in the North . Bashir should be in DSS net answering question to why he is hailing a known dead terrorist.” – @Drsaintdikachi
“Nigeria was never a country designed to bring to law the people who were once in public office, celebrating a terrorist by this guy should set him straight to jail, but who will arrest him???” – @itstundearc
“That one is also terrorist sympathizer, this country keeps retrogressing, the man in the Rock of Aso is also known for shady acts, the VP too is a BH. It’s now so hard to live in Naija, hard to also leave.” – @itstundearc
“That’s not the fault of Nigeria… People like Bashir first and only loyalty is to Islam. People like him are all over the place including the west.” – @Anoneme2
“Were u not in this when his oga buhari said any attack on bokoharam is attack on the north, Were u here not here when adamu Garba said that bokoharam is the freedom fighters of the north, have they ever hidden their love for terrorists? No! They celebrated 9/11 & Oct 7th.” – @ndukwe_ume96970
“Now you know why Boko Haram thrives in Nigeria, but not in Niger Republic, Cameroon and Ghana!! #Terorrists.” – @OmagbemiGeorge
