Suspected bandits kill 21 in Katsina village

Gunmen suspected to be bandits on Tuesday killed 21 persons in Baure village, Safana local government area of Katsina State.

The spokesman for the state police command, Abubakar Aliyu, said in a statement on Friday the attackers targeted a joint team of Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC) and vigilante members who were returning from a condolence visit in the community.

He added that police operatives are on the trail of the attackers.

The statement read: “The incident occurred at about 4:30 p.m., prompting a swift response from police operatives attached to Safana Divisional Headquarters, who rushed to the scene and restored normalcy.

“Sadly, 21 persons were fatally shot as a result of the attack.”
