Tems explains decision to cancel upcoming show in Rwanda

Talented Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known in music circles as Tems, has explained why she has decided to cancel her upcoming show in Rwanda.

The ‘Damages’ crooner, in a post shared on her Instagram page, said that she decided to cancel the show in Kigali over Rwanda’s support of the M23 armed group waging an offensive in Congo.

She disclosed that she recently promoted her show in Rwanda without realising that there is an ongoing conflict between Rwanda and Congo.

Tems noted that she never intended to be insensitive to real-world issues and sincerely apologized if the promotion of her show was viewed in that light by her fans.

“So I recently promoted my show in Rwanda without realising that there is an ongoing conflict between Rwanda and Congo.

“I never ever intend to be insensitive to real-world issues, and I sincerely apologise if this came across that way.

“I simply had no idea this was going on. My heart goes out to those affected. Conflict is no joke and I truly hope and pray for peace in this time.”  The musician wrote on her X page.
