The Beatz Awards, an event that celebrates unsung heroes behind the success of the global Afrobeats phenomenon, is to empower youths to mark its 9th edition,
This was made known by the CEO and Vision officer of the awards Elijah John who disclosed to newsmen that a good number of young Nigerians will be provided with the required tools to make headway in the music and entertainment industry.
He stated further that a new initiative tagged ‘Beat to Banger’ project with registration ongoing, intends to provide the knowledge and know-how of the business side of music and provide legal guidance for youths who are eager to operate in that space.
Elijah John said; ‘‘One of the things we are trying to achieve this year is to empower the younger generation to understand what is required to make headway in the music and entertainment industry. We intend to provide the knowledge and know-how of the business side of music. We also intend to provide legal guidance for youths who are eager to operate in that space which is one of the things we hope to achieve this year.
‘‘We have also recently initiated the ‘Beat to Banger’ project with registration ongoing to equip the younger generation with the tools needed in terms of understanding music production and the business side of entertainment. This initiative is also in collaboration with the office of the Special Assistant to the President on Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy and we will be unveiling the project officially on November 16.

This year’s event will feature top performances, surprise guest appearances, and the awarding of the best in the industry.
Elijah John disclosed that The Beatz Awards recognises the exceptional works of producers, sound engineers, songwriters, music video directors, and other behind-the-scenes professionals who contribute to the thriving Afrobeats scene.
‘‘The Beatz Awards was conceived out of the desire to recognise and reward the creative and technical talents behind the scene in the music and entertainment industry. Since its inception, it has grown to become a respected platform as we keep shining the light on music producers, sound engineers, and songwriters just to mention a few because they all play a critical role in making the industry what it is today.
‘‘We cannot continue to celebrate the global acclaim of the Nigerian music and entertainment industry without mentioning the contribution of the people behind music production and the business. Over the years we have celebrated countless talents who have gone on to achieve global recognition.
‘‘When we started, there was no recognition for Nigerian music producers but now some of our producers are receiving Grammy Award nominations which is a testament to the fact that what they are doing is globally accepted and recognised by listeners and industry players alike.
He also disclosed that this year’s edition will feature new categories such as the Afro Soul Producer of the Year, and Afro Dancehall Producer of the Year, which reflects the evolution of the industry.
