Tinubu mistakenly refers to 10th National Assembly as 11th during 2025 budget presentation
In a moment of gaffe, President Bola Tinubu referred to the 10th National Assembly as 11th National Assembly during the presentation of the N47.9 trillion 2025 budget proposal to the lawmakers on Wednesday.
After observing protocols already established by Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, the President mistakenly addressed the joint session of the National Assembly as the 11th Assembly before presenting the appropriation bill.
He said: “I hereby present the 2025 Budget to the joint session of the 11th National Assembly.”
When he was corrected that this was the 10th National Assembly, the president with his hands up responded that he wrote 11th before jokingly adding that “which means that you are all re-elected” drawing laughter and applause from the lawmakers.
Responding to the blunder committed by the President, lawmakers, present in the green chambers, where the 2025 budget presentation was held, were heard chanting “we will do 11”.
