Tragedy strikes Jigawa as petrol tanker explosion claims 105 lives
A devastating petrol tanker explosion in Majiya town, Jigawa State, has left at least 105 people dead and 55 others injured, according to Shiisu Adam, Public Relations Officer of the state Police Command.
The catastrophic incident occurred on Tuesday night at approximately 11:30 pm when the tanker driver lost control near Khadija University.
“The casualty figure is about 105, and the number of injured is 55, as against the 50 earlier confirmed,” Adam told newsmen.
The tanker, which originated from Kano and was headed to Nguru town in Yobe State, exploded after the driver lost control.

Eyewitnesses report that many people rushed to the scene to scoop up spilled fuel, unaware of the impending danger. This reckless act led to the loss of numerous lives.
The injured have been hospitalized at Ringim General Hospital, with some transferred to Federal Medical Centre Birnin Kudu due to bed capacity limitations.
