A 45-year-old man known as Kazeem has drowned in a river located in Odo Tente, a community bordering Lagos and Ogun States. The incident took place on Friday around 11 a.m.

Reports indicate that Kazeem had consumed a hard drug, believed to be Colorado, prior to the drowning. Witnesses say he began to exhibit erratic behavior and, in a state of distress, jumped into the river.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday, detailing how Kazeem lost his life. “On 11/10/2024 at about 11 am, a complainant reported at Alagbado Division that one Kazeem, ‘M’ aged 45, under the influence of a hard drug suspected to be Colorado, ran uncontrollably and jumped into a river at Odo Tente boundary between Lagos and Ogun State. Sequel to this, the victim drowned and died.”

Following the tragedy, detectives from the Alagbado Division arrived at the scene to gather evidence and document the circumstances surrounding Kazeem’s death. Hundeyin noted that upon contacting Kazeem’s father, he requested that the body be buried immediately by the riverside in accordance with their cultural practices.

Despite the family’s wishes, Hundeyin confirmed that an investigation into the incident is underway.
