Troops kill suspected bandit in Plateau

Troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) on Tuesday killed a suspected bandit and armed robber in Plateau State.

The Media Officer of OPSH, Maj. Samson Zhakom, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday in Jos.

Zhakom said troops brought down the two suspects in operations conducted in Wase and Bokkos Local Government Areas of the state on March 24.

He said: “The suspected bandit was eliminated following intense clearance operations conducted by troops at Kampani Zurak in Wase LGA.

“He was a member of a banditry syndicate operating in Wase general area and Taraba State before he was neutralised.

“On the same day, we received a distress call about an ongoing armed robbery incident along the Bokkos – Richa road.

“Troops mobilised to the area, made contact and overwhelmed the criminals with superior firepower.

“One of the armed robbers was neutralised, while others fled with various degrees of injuries.”

The spokesman said one AK-47 rifle was recovered at the scene of the incident, adding that a follow-up operation was ongoing to arrest other members of the gang who are at large.
