Unknown gunmen kill five policemen in Rivers
Tragedy struck in Rivers State in the early hours of Monday, as five policemen were reportedly killed by some gunmen in Rivers State.
According to reports, the police officers, including, a Deputy Supritendent of Police, Nasiru Halidu, were coming from Yobe state on a special assignment when they were ambushed.
The policemen were allegedly ambushed by their assailants in Okobe, Ahoada West LGA of Rivers State, along the East-West road at about 3am.
Confirming the incident, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmad Muhammad, who was almost in tears, described the development as a sad one.
According to Muhammad, investigation were already on the way to enable the apprehension of the gunmen.
