Former US President and Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump, looks set to return to the White House as he has just won three key states of Pennsylvania, Georgia and North Carolina, thereby further reducing the chances of Vice President Kamala Harris path to victory.

According to projections by political observers, Trump is edging close to the 270 electoral votes needed to win the presidency as he currently has 266 votes to Harris’s 188.

Though Fox News had earlier on Wednesday, declared Trump the winner of the US presidential election, counting continues in key states, including in the other battleground states of Arizona, Michigan, Wisconsin and Nevada. Meanwhile, Republicans are also expected to win control in the Senate, a flip that will shift the balance of power in Washington.

But based on CNN’s current projections, Trump only needs to win four more electoral votes to win the presidency.

US networks had already called the swing states of Pennsylvania, Georgia and North Carolina for the 78-year-old, and he led the Democratic vice president in the others.
