Wife killer: Autopsy out soon

Investigations into how Mrs. Ronke Shonde died continue with the police expecting the results of the autopsy carried out on her corpse anytime soon.

Mrs Shonde was found dead in her residence in the Egbeda area of Lagos state, with her husband Lekan suspected of being her killer. But he has insisted that he did not kill his wife.

Amid reports that the autopsy result was ready, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni, said he was not aware of such report, adding, that such rumours could jeopardise ongoing investigations into the matter.

Meanwhile, homicide investigators yesterday visited the scene of the incident, in company of Lekan, to get a firsthand view of the crime scene.

They conducted close to four hours search of the flat, scrutinizing every object and taking photographs where necessary.

It was gathered, that Lekan who turned himself in has refused to eat, insisting that he loved his wife and would prefer to join her in death.

Also, all efforts to trace the alleged lover of the late Mrs. Shonde that allegedly sparked the fight that led to her death have proved abortive, as he has refused to turn up for work since then, with his residential address still unknown.

The alleged lover who is said to work at a publishing firm in Ikeja has not been seen since the incidence blew open.

Workers at the firm have even denied that no one with the name mentioned works there, while other sources revealed that he may have absconded to avoid police arrest.
