American businessman and co-founder of social media service Facebook and its parent company, Meta Platforms, is planning significant changes to Facebook.

In an attempt to increase Facebook’s cultural influence among its three billion monthly users, Zuckerberg has disclosed that efforts are being made to restore the social media platform’s original attractiveness.

According to him, the company would emphasize this change throughout the course of the upcoming year, which could have an impact on short-term commercial outcomes in order to prioritize critical product advancements.

As seen by the rise in user interaction with the platform’s video content, Zuckerberg underlined that the objective is to investigate new avenues for product development without eliminating contemporary features.

During the company’s fourth-quarter results call, Zuckerberg said that Facebook plays a significant role in the lives of its over three billion monthly users and that he is aiming to make the social media platform “way more culturally influential than it is today.”

“I think that’s sort of a fun and interesting goal that will take our product development in some interesting directions that we maybe haven’t focused as much on in the last several years,” Zuckerberg said during the earnings call Q&A. “I think it’s an investment area and something I’m going to spend some time on.”

When discussing competition, Zuckerberg admitted that Meta took a while to pick up on TikTok’s explosive growth since at first they didn’t see it as a social media site, instead comparing it to YouTube.

While improving Facebook’s and Instagram’s artificial intelligence systems, Zuckerberg urged Meta staff to concentrate on future trends and stressed the value of avoiding making the same mistakes twice.
